Free Pattern: Snow Scarf

In contrast to the pattern I posted last week, this one is for a scarf that is huge, super warm, and easy to completely wrap your neck/face in (thanks in part to some seriously awesome yarn).

This a modified version of the infinity scarf I made last winter (read about it here). I decided to undo the seaming an make it a more traditional scarf.

Pattern: Snow Scarf

Materials:

Pattern:

  • Cast on 17 stitches
  • Row 1: *K1, P1, repeat from *, end K1
  • Row 2:  *P1, K1, repeat from *, end P1
  • Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 60 inches from cast on edge
  • Bind off loosely, weave in ends

I may retroactively add some tassels.
Stay warm!

  1. Am I missing something? The picture of the scarf looks like stockinette stitch but the pattern isn't stockinette stitch. Could you clarify? Thanks.

    1. Hi Mary,

Because the yarn is so fluffy, you can't really see the purls between the knits. I promise it's a 1x1 rib :)

  2. You have to have an even number to repeat row one, or start with a purl on the even rows if you have an odd number of stitches...unless I am going crazy. I cast on 17, and have started the even rows with purl one.

    2. HI. I just got some of the Mega Tweed so found your pattern. I too note the wrong number of stitches. but you haven't changed the pattern yet. Just saying...

    3. Hi Janine. I have changed the pattern. Instead of altering the number of cast on stitches, I altered the instructions. That way the width remains the same.

Though feel free to cast on 18 and just K1, P1 each row.
